I currently have a 2004 Mach 1 which I use as a daily driver, mostly in the city, and am trying to decide which rear end gear I should upgrade to. I want to improve my acceleration and somewhat keep the high end power. But, like I said, I mostly do city driving and occasionally go on a long road trip with it. So I'm slightly concerned with gas mileage. What would better fit my situation.....4.10's, 3.73's, or somewhere in between?

 

Go 4.10s all the way! They actually helped (or didn't really hurt) my city MPG because I can useoverdrive at 37-40mph now. Accleration is amazingly increased as these DOHCs love to breath at the higher rpms. 3.73s, or even 3.90s just won't be enough. Do 4.10s at the minimum- you wont regret it.

 

i agree with machwon. if you are gonna put gears in it you should go 4.10. going from the stock 3.55 to 3.73 isnt gonna make enough of a difference, you will just feel lik you wasted your money.

 

Another vote for 4.10's. I have had them in mydaily driven'03 Mach 1 for three years, and have used it on a couple of 2500road trips and am completely satisfied with them.

4.30's are certainly an option, just don't go with less than 4.10's.

I CURRENTLY HAVE 4:10S AND TRUST ME U DONT NEED 4:10 GEARS I AM ACTUALLY GOING TO SWITCH TO 3:73'S BECAUSE I NEED MORE OF A TOP END ACCEL.

BUT YEA UR REALLY GOING TO WASTE GAS WITH 4:10 GEARS
