Default Shaker Functionality

I was wondering? I have a BBK CAI in my car and all of the piping going to the front of the Shaker is not there anymore. It was this way when I bought it. How much of a difference does the functionality of the shaker make as far as horsepower? If I wanted to get that functionality back where would I get new piping?

i'd say get new piping from ford- but i don't know how much they would rip you off on it. I actually removed the piping on my last mach for a while because I think it looks cleaner without it- and you may...may get 2hp above 60mph with the shaker connected (not a whole lot of gain).

I believe somewhere in the neighborhood of 15% of the air comes in thru the shaker??

so you both increased and decreased your airflow at the same time....[&:]

but....if you want to know the difference....when i put my car on the dyno. the fan was sitting on the floor, not pointed at my shaker. I put down 289hp/302tq @ the wheels.

I got the guy to put the fan on top of a table and in front of the shaker. That time i put down 291hp/311tq. I got him to take it back down on the floor, and the numbers droped back off a little....so it does makea difference. now, wether that difference is "seat of your pants" noticable...i doubt it.

There is alot of debate about it, I know while driving you get a ram air effect, and all that air is "cold" air from outside the engine bay. Soo.. it deleivers cold air which equals HP. How much? No idea..
