My long time neighbor just bought a 2004 Mach 1(3000 miles).
Anyway, he has a 5.4 liter Cobra engine in it, is that a common thing? It was definetley either done at the factory or at the original dealership.
It's the most beautiful Mustang I've ever seen too[8D] And he only wants $22,000 for it.

 

5.4 cobra motor? cobra as in the little cobra car, or the mustang cobra??

cause the mustang cobra fromt he same year (2004) has the EXACT same engine as the Mach1. only the cobra is s/c. but other than that they are the same damn motor...

Could he be refering to a GT 500 5.4??

 

Maybe a CobraR engine. They had a 5.4L.

 

Actually the mach 1 does not have the exact same engine as a cobra, actually it has the exact same engine as a Mercury Maurader.

The 03 & 04 Mach 1's did not come with the 5.4Lt because of the size of the engine compartment, but the 4.6Lt is stock for the Mach 1and it is the same motor as the cobra with just two main differences. The first is the Supercharger for the Cobra model versus the naturally asprated Mach 1. The second is the Camshafts where different in both engines. The Mach 1 had better lift and durantion on the Cam shaft versus the Cobra model. What some people are doing is putting the Mach 1 version camshafts in there Cobra's to give them more horse power. I hope that help you in answering your question for the 5.4 Lt and the 4.6lt cobra/mach1 motor.

 

Also the mach does not have the forged internals nor the same compression ratio, the mach has the same engine as a mercury maruader.
