anyone out there know of any power steering problems in machs? my g/f is telling me about a whistle noice she is hearing and a grinding sound when she turns. any ideas? i havent look at the car yet, that will be tonight..... but i thought i would get idea's ahead of time.

I know a lot of Machs seem to squeek when you turn the wheel. I have the problem too but it doesn't happen all the time. I think it happens when I'm trying to park, when I'm practically not even moving.

One of my track buddies told me last night that he had to change his power steering pump soon after he bought his Mach. His is an 03.

 

Noisy power steering pumps are a fairly common problem in all '99-'04 Mustangs.

 

well, there is a massive leak............

 

Does anyone know of any major problems that the mach had recalls for? I am wanting to know so that when I go to buy one, I will know what I am looking for.

 

Left (driver's side) cylinder head tick and Tremec 3650 synchro issues. Both have been discussed at length on the Registry.

And, since this is a power steering thread, improperly torqued/defective steering rack bushings
