The reason is that it is against federal law (EPA) to remove properly working catalytic converters; the muffler shop has to say that. That doesn't mean they won't remove them and replace your stock midpipe with an aftermarket one of your choosing.

 

Ah ok got it. Well, I think since I'm researching this on my own, think I'm gonna install the exhaust on my own. Might take awhile to get it done, but at least I will know the work is done by me.

 

Yeah.. the owner of the shop is actually cool and has all his teeth and had 3 Mach 1s through out his lifebut the workers their aren't so great. They welded my exhaust on when I never asked them to.. of course I never asked them NOT to but come on... at least weld it on STRAIGHT.
And when I had my V6 they did a GREAT job making me some true dual exhaust.. but it started to rattle so I took it in and they made the pipes bend low.. one was hanging extremely low and looked like complete ***. I mean WOW wtf.

 

Oh man. what a buncha idiots. Sorry to hear they messed things up. Really makes ya wonder what they really learned in school if they ever went..
