Thinking about buying.
Hey as it stands now i own a 1972 stang. but its old, im young and as much as i love the old girl im really looking into the mach 1s, always loved those cars... my question is how stiff is the suspension at higher speeds... im not a hardcore racer or anything but i do love to get up and go sometimes and jumping around at high speeds is no fun at all... i love the freeways and the 72 has a pretty hard time on them. i know payments on a car are no fun but i really love the smoother 4.6 sound... and gas milage... and rev limits.... tecnology has come a long way in the last 36 years... whats everyone think?
The suspension is pretty good at high speeds. Don't get me wrong, you'll have both hands on the wheel at 130-150mph, but it's not all over the road or anything. They have tokico shocks and sit a half inch lower than a GT. The only time that my suspension feels hard, is when I have more thanone passenger, andit's only rough over bridges, bad roads, etc. In other words, Machs stay well planted at high speeds.
I get an honest 24mpg with my 4.10 gears. Average 310 miles per tank (15.6 gallons).
I would test drive one (by yourself if possible) and ring it out a few times. Ithink you'll be very impressed. I have made a couple of trips to Fla. from NC and never got uncomfortable or tired of the ride. I love mine. The only thing I would change is the interior rattles. I'm pretty sure it's due to my exhaust resonance, but aggravatingnone the less!
