Default race

I don't know much about SRT-4's but this one in my town wants to race and I was just wanting to know what to expect. I recently bought an 03 Mach 1 with exhaust and thats the only mod that I know of for sure. It might have gears because the gear box is chrome and I doubt thats a stock feature. His SRT-4's blower is putting out 19 pds of boost and he has some low end stuff done also. I would think he might have me because those are quick stock and his is pretty far from and mine is close to stock. Also do you guys think intake would be the most beneficial mod for the price since I have exhaust or is there something else?

doing 70 on the highway i am tacking right at 2 grand in 5th and about 40-45 in 4th i am at 2ish grand. i cant if i have gears because i have never ridden in a stock mach plus my last car was an 89 cobra that was supercharged with 4.10's and a lot of bottom end work so i cant compare the 2.
correction on my last post too he is at 21 psi not 19 and claims he is mid 12's now. I was thinking about doing some intake work and getting some sort of mid pipe to start off with so my car has a lot of air coming in and out.

If he has his car tuned for that 19psi, then he could be faster. Might want to post this in the street/strip section so that some of the SRT-4 guys can see it. They can help answer alot.

He must be running some kind of DR or slicks at the track. A mid 12 car will get ya, even if you have 4.10s, unless he is planning on racing you on the street with street tires, in which case you stand a good chance.

There is only about 300rpm difference between 3.55s and 4.10s. I'd have to get in my car and and refresh my memory as to what the rpm are with my 4.10s.

Stock for stock you will take him, but with those things modded you could have trouble. Depends on his tires though. The traction on those cars suck without DR's or slicks. If you do race on the street I would recommend a dig. It will depend on his traction situation, but SRT-4's are roll monsters. A roll isn't a race anyway, it is just two idiots speeding next to each other.

You have stock gears. When I drive 70 mph in 5th, I'm right on 2,000 rpm.

Intake itself won't do much but everything adds up...

well,
if you race on the street, and your both on street tires, go from a dig, his **** wont kick in until 50mph+ and he'll have hell of a time keeping traction off the line, but if your going from a roll your gonna need a hit it perfect, oh he still needs to be on street tires, 19lbs on street tires not so good for traction.
regardless though im gonna put your chances 70/30 in his favor, just due to the fact he's a mid 12's car.

I didnt know they had such bad traction problems. Im going to be angry if a 4 banger beats me even though those are pretty wicked cars. I guess a dig it is for me then. The only reason I thought of a roll was because my 2nd gear pulls ungodly hard I hear from people around here and then 3rd is a typical strong 3rd. I was just trying to get somethingto where I could drop it into 2nd lol. What do you think I would be running at the track with full flowmaster exhaust? Im getting ram air and intake spacer for it and possibly 1.6 rr but thats after i get my taxes back.

Not sure about the race, but my rear end is chroms also. 2k at 70 sounds about right. If you aren't going to supercharge it, go ahead and stick in 4.30s or 4.56s and it will be better race....
