Default 1/4 mi. problems

How are you guys launching with street tires. Currently leaving at 2.5k and rolling the clutch. What do you guys think I'm doing wrong?Speed shifts are easy to me but 2nd gear shift is killing my times from spin. Mods installed are RAI and LM1 catback. Diablo too, but don't think it helps any. Installing my 4.10 and o/r h next couple days. Thanks in advance.

To be honest with ya, you're not going to do better than that 2.0 60ft. I've been trying for a year to break a 2.0 on street tires, I even threw some 275s on the rear, and that didn't help. I'm launching on 4.10s, so our circumstances are a little different, but basically I'm reving up to 3k and rolling off the clutch, once the clutch engages, I slowly roll into the throttle not hitting WOT until I'm past the 60' or so. Thats a damn good ET with your mods bro. I spin 2nd gear something terrible too, so don't feel bad. Actually, I get more wheel hop since I got the wider tires, but still, it kills your ET to a point. All I can say is, DRs and LCA for the 12s!

You know how to make a brother feel better. Best 60' is 2.03+ (3.55s w/245 streets), ain't quitin' till I get 1.999!Know a guy went 13.08 bone stock (12.70s w/ o/r h and k&n),guess the tides wereright and the earth's axis was in the right tilt. I don't thinkJLT and catback made a difference at all in the 1/4 b/c it's all in the high RPM range. Was told my mph reflected that. All shifts @ 6200,the 1-2 shift is the largest RPM difference and it'ssimply tough to not power shift...my damn foot is practically pushing on the track!Gonna do a driveway o/r h install tomorrow. Fun, fun, fun!Wish I knew how to install my gears, save me $275 ( Hey, aDR is a drag radial...what is LCA? Thanks again 4the feedback, it'sappreciated. But you already knew that!

I'm assuming you are saying that different lower control arms will help the tire traction issue? If so, where from? Thanks a bunch in advance.

I concur. Takes practice to get it just right, but once you do...oh yeah!

LCA (Lower Control Arms) should help with that 1-2 shift/traction problem from what I've been told. I'm definetely going to give it a try and will let you know if it helps, if you don't beat me to it.

Better let the experienced handle those gears man, that kind of thing is touchy as hell. But once you get them in and return to the track, do exactly what you're doing now. I'm very curious to see if you pick up trap speed like I did.

my apologies to gotMach04 for not putting 2 and 2 together and not seeing that your LCAs were his lower control arms. I never cease to amaze myself. Learning alot from you guys. I think I'll let you do the testing with the LCAs, pleeze let a brotherknow. One question though..have you heard of any effects they have on the on-road characteristics? Man, I'm going to bed to dream about that 1.999 60'.

Haven't heard about on road characteristics. I'm thinking they're pretty much a straight line only mod. I'll let ya know what happens.

The bed is calling my name too man.

LCA's and UCA's both help with the weight transfer over the rear axle, LCA's more than UCA's, butthat's how they at least cut down a little on tire spin off the line. I think Stonie's right for the most part, they are mostly a straight line mod, though having LCA's will definitely help with exit speed off of a tight corner like a chicane.. That's just me though..
