Default burning oil

So i just took the car out of storage today and decided to check the fluid levels. To my amazment i couldnt get a reading off the dipstick. I decided to change the oil. After doing so i measure and see that i had only 4.5 Litres (canadian guy).. i think that would be like 4.75 in quarts?. So im missing at least a quart. I did my last change maybe 2000-3000kms (1000- 2000 miles). I never checked before i put the car away but i have no visible leaks. Next thought is, is it burning oil?. I do get the puff a smoke at times when i start it up. Ive seen tons of threads talking about guys getting the puff of smoke and so on. Mine does it on cold starts for sure. Short run times then starting the car agian. Basically what other pple have covered. Wheather it is white or blue i cant tell. I dont have enough knowledge to say it is for sure oil. but it last just for a second. I also cant say if its burning while running but ive never really payed attention nor has ne thing happened to get my attention. I also get the famous ticking sound. Ive heard all about #8 bank not getting enough cooling and could burn out the seal and possibly lead to the ticking sound which leads to oil burning? Im pretty new to this and basically only know wat ive read in the threads. Alot of guys seem to think the ticking and the puff of smoke isnt ne thing to worry about but now i kinda am. Sorry about the novel just trying to cover as much as possible to avoid questions. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
