Default ADVISE WANTED

Hey what’s up guys I currently have a 98gt that is my toy car (it has about 55k miles and a bunch of mods) and have been wanting more hp for years now. I’ve been talking with the guy at the performance shop I go to and it looks like I am going to be swapping my motor for a 03 mach 1 motor with 20k miles on it (I know there’s and obvious difference in hp). I’ve been going back and forth in my mind about this because I don’t want an extra engine lying around but that is a way better platform to start with. He said it would be around $1800 for the swap installing lt hearers and a dyno tune (plus engine and parts) @ $4600 total
Do you guys think I should build my engine or do the swap?
I will eventually put a supercharger on it, but not yet.
Thanks for your info

If you plan on putting a blower on it, then make sure you forge the internals irregardless of which one you choose. The Mach rods are the same weak rods that are in the GT.

You'll prolly get diff opinions on your decision. I think you should stay true to your modelw/ your 2V motor and just forge the internals for your future s/c.

$1,800 to swap?? Damn my shop wanted about $1,300 just to install longtube headers LOL!! That's why I sold em... forget that!

I think it would badass to have a "simple" looking GT with the heart of a Mach in it! Good luck with whatever you decide!

Forge your internals on the engine you have, get pi headsand intake (preferably ported)if you don't already have them. Slap on a centri(vortech, procharger, etc) with an intercooler, get a tune and smaller pulley and you can have a daily drivable 500rwhp+ car (with an upgraded transmission of course) or a weekend car with probably if you wanted 600-700rwhp with a better transmission and probably a stronger rear end, but I think you need to swap stuff on the superchargerfor it to work. 500rwhp cars w/the right tires andsuspension near full weightcan run 10's in the 1/4.

if you've got the money ready to rock, the mach swap is easy enough, but make sure you forge the engine and if you know you're going sc/ turbo drop the compression to 9.8's so it's the same as the termie's and you can take the mach block up to 1khp before you have to worry about block integrity

For $4,600 out the door, do the swap, man! MUCH better platform off of which to make future power.
