cai?

RE: cai?
I paid $225 for K&N. I didn't notice any significant gains in my HP increase but I did get about 1 mpg more on my fill ups. Every little bit helps. The CAI is one of the cheaper routs to go to pick up a few ponies probably around 10 or so. I say go for it.

I would stick with the JLT RAI or the K&N FIPK. They both allow the use of the shaker and are made of plastic so that they do not soak up heat.

RE: cai?
There was a discussion about mach1registry about the JLT RAI actually DECREASING performance (someone logged a 3mph DECREASE in their 1/4 time). The general consensus seemed to be that the C&L cold air kit was the best but the most economical choice is to get a K&N drop in and save the money left over for a tune or other mods

RE: cai?
I have the K&N drop in on it right now. I also took that screen out, so that was a bad decision? I ordered a tune for it just the other day and i just didn't know if i should just stick with the stock step up or if it was worth it upgrade.

RE: cai?
I would def put that screen back in. I took mine out without knowing any better and my car would stall when coming to a stop if i didn't leave it in gear. I don't know how it would react to an auto but I know my 5 speed didn't like it. I put my screen back in the other day and it hasn't stalled on me once.

I put the JLT RAI in and instantly notice a better throttle response. As far as HP gains I'm not too sure but also gained 1-2 better mpg, but I got it tuned by a local shop, Dynospeed, within a week of installing it. I say its worth it.
