Default Question about tranny questions

After looking through the Mach section on here, I've noticed that a lot of the threads are related to transmission problems like it being hard to shift into gears, grinding gears, etc. Could someone explain to me why it's so common for Mach's to have transmission problems? The tranny is the same as the mid 01 and up GT transmission is it not? Why do the Mach owners seem to be the only ones with these problems so regularly? And also seeing as my car hasn't given me any problems yet, is there anything I can do to prevent this happening in the future? Thanks in advance.

the t3650 is the same in the mach's and the gt's. it has problems with 2nd and 3rd gears and syncros, and the fluid level from the factory was set too high. they have an update which replaces the 2nd and 3rd gears and syncros and has you lower the fluid capacity to 3 liters i just recently did this too mine and it fixed all the hard shifting/missed shift problems i was having. if your trans isnt acting up i wouldnt worry about it, jsut wait untill its a problem and than have the update performed.

I have yet to change my tranny fluid since I bought the car back in March. I'm going to go with Mobil 1 and Lucas tranny oil fix. How difficult is it to get to changing the fluid in our cars?

thanks for sharing that info, my 3rd synchro is gone and I'm waiting for the budget to allow a fixin. Have heard before that a dealerships don't like to do these upgrades. Any experience by you or anyone you know on dealerships honering the update and possibly doing the fix on Ford's tab? Thanks in advance.

depends on how far out of warranty you are, and how good of a customer you are to the dealer. the dealer typically pays 20%, ford 60%, and the customer the other 20% on approved after warranty claims. but in my experience the dealer will only help if you are a valued service customer due to the fact that they have to cover 20%.
