That is really good. I didn't think you could get that out of a 4v being n/a.

I'm just trying to get an idea about the mods for his car. I have owned mine for about 4 years now and this will be his first. So he is comming to me to help him mod the car. Just want to have a general idea about it so that i can answer his questions when he asks them.

OH and to answer your gear questions

Manual
.62 ratio, 80mph, at X.XX:1 rear gear ratio

3.55 = 2304 rpm
3.73 = 2421 rpm
4.10 = 2661 rpm
4.30 = 2791 rpm
4.56 = 2960 rpm

top speed w/ 3.55s, 5th gear @ 6798 rpm = 236 mph
top speed w/ 3.73s, 5th gear @ 6780 rpm = 224 mph
top speed w/ 4.10s, 5th gear @ 6787 rpm = 204 mph
top speed w/ 4.30s, 5th gear @ 6769 rpm = 194 mph
top speed w/ 4.56s, 5th gear @ 6771 rpm = 183 mph

Auto
.70 ratio, 80mph, at X.XX:1 rear gear ratio

3.55 = 2602 rpm
3.73 = 2733 rpm
4.10 = 3005 rpm
4.30 = 3151 rpm
4.56 = 3342 rpm

top speed w/ 3.55, @ 5789 rpm = 178 mph
top speed w/ 3.73, @ 5775 rpm = 169 mph
top speed w/ 4.10, @ 5784 rpm = 154 mph
top speed w/ 4.30, @ 5791 rpm = 147 mph
top speed w/ 4.56, @ 5765 rpm = 138 mph

Thanks USMCrebel! Very helpful! I think i will tell him to use the 4.30s. Seems to be a great balanced gear for the mach1.

4.10's are better if he is planning on modding a lot down the road. the 4.30's will blow the tire off in 3rd gear if your not careful...

I agree with the 4.10s. My manual Mach was lightly modded on 4.10s and had a severe lack of traction. I think 4.30s would be a bit steep with a supercharger. People do it though.

another 2 cents worth...

3) majority of dynos I've seen are in the high 270s, which equates to 325 hp at the crank. ET (13.1)/Trap speed (106)/vehicle weight (3665 incl. driver) calculators equal to right around 325 so I'm convinced those hp #s are the correct ones.

6) to compensate for the 3.55s, the Mach has a 5th gear .62 ratio which yields 27-28 mpg hwy. because of the high OD, 4.10s increase cruising RPMs by only 300, 4.30s by 400.

Per your question to USMCrebel...4.30s...70 mph rpm 2400, I think 80 mph rpm around 2700. With 4.10s being 100 rpm less. 4.10s decrease mpg by 2 city 3 hwy, and 4.30s a little more....ofcourse. Rebel correct me if I'm wrong on this.

P.S. just realized thier was 2 pages of responses, sorry for the redundancy.
