Default mach power potential questions

Hey guys, i just posted a thread in s197 about machs vs s197s. However, i was hoping you all could give me some additional info regarding mach 1s. For example: a mach with full bolt ons would get pretty deep into 12s, right?? And with full bolt ons and stage 1 or 2 suspension upgrades a mach could possibly break into 11s?

This curiosity all started with a drunk discussion between a friend and I, so if yall could clear it up, i would greatly appreciate it. Guys in s197 section answered everything i wanted to know at the time but just created more curiousity about machs

w/o getting all complicated about it, with an exceptional set of rubbers the two scenarios are correct. If we all had a penny for every time this question has been asked we'd be some rich *****. But it is a good question so we'll just continue to answer it.

Both cars have some great potential. The Mach weighs less and also tends to make a bit more power out of the box. The S197's gain a good bit with some bolt ons and a tune though.

I would say that mod for mod they are relatively compareable but the edge definitely goes to the Mach because of the weight.

Do a search though. This question is asked a lot. like Rygi say.

I never realized it either until a close friend bought one. I've heard the same statement numerous times since buying mine. The underrated advertised power and 1/4 mi. ratings made them like a diamond in the rough. Stock speaking, 325 hp and 13.2 is a bit stronger than 305 and 13.5.

They are quick cars and a lot of people underestimate them and think they are a GT with a shaker.

They definitely aren't a Termi but they make decent power for mods. They can do 320+ with bolt ons and a local guy here put 480 down at redline with his Procharger and his custom piping.

wow, whats the deal with internals and the bottom end? pushing 480 on completely stock motor, or did he have to forge anything?

He is driving a ticking time bomb. The crank is the only piece that is forged. The rest is cast.

I just wish that headers were less of a bitch to install on our cars. I'd say that both cars mod well, but considering they both mod so well (with similar results) and that the Mach is 2-3 tenths quicker out of the box, it'll pretty much stay that way mod for mod.
