Default Mach hood insulation removal?

I may have the 1st thread about this obscure part of our stangs. My hood insulation is stained all over the place with acid residue from the battery. Doesn't hurt the car, just looks awful and doesn't look like it would scrub off. Couple questions about removing it...1) do you think the e compartment would vent a little better for the heat? , 2) are thier any increases in engine sound outside the car? Any concerns I'm missing? Thx in advance guys.

The only point of the insulation (from what I have been told) is for the chance of a fire. If a fire starts, the insulation is suppose to fall on top of it. I don't think you will get any more noise by removing it. Aftermarket hoods don't have them.

I removed mine too- simple very simple job. I like the look without a lot more...much more traditional and old school like the old machs IMO. I didn't notice any increase in noise or heat either without it. If you want to just clean your stocker some Formula 2001 spray works great, and keeps it dark black for quite a while.

Formula 2001...will look for it. Will probably clean it and keep it off though, like the old school look as well. Thx.

I also wondered this. How hard is it to take off? Does it just peel off or what?

Ah Ok, got it thanks! I think I'm gonna remove mine, give her a better blue look under the hood Guess as long as I never have an engine fire!
