no worry on the tranny. It's from how the gear teeths mesh together. Even a couple thousandths of an inch. off will cause the whine but doesn't hurt anything. Putting different gears in with a spot-on install will get rid of it, but so would adjusting the pinion depth/backlash settings on the same gears. Ofcourse, I recommend steeper gears. Hard driving can cause it but over a much longer period of time so your cool.
