Ah ha, that 'splains it! You mentioned you had "aftermarket rods", are the rods and pistons forged? If so, you shouldn't have to worry much about supercharging or turbocharging the car. I wouldn't go nuts with the boost, but 12-14lbs. on a forged 10 to 1 compression motor shouldn't be an issue.
