Default NEW GUY

Hey, whats up guys. I just picked up a 04 mach 1 with 31k, and have a couple questions. First off, first gear is really limited seems like it has no power and the rear end seems "floaty" The car does need tires, but other then that its in fantastic condition, orginal window sticker in glovebox, clean
car fax so on, so on. Its been several years since i've owned a mustang and lost my touch in terms of driveabilty characteristics. Oh yeah the clutch pedal is heavy and the shifter is really notchy. Any help would or advise would be great. Thanks guys....whats up with the f-body icon??? lol

Welcome to our section! Lots of info and experience in this section.

So 1st feels weak? If anything, you should be having trouble hooking 1st.

Welcome bro,

1st gear seems weak due to it being like a 4.56 or something like that, so it's over extremely quick.
the car will need a tire once to take it's street tire performance to the limit ~a 13.1-13.2 or an 8.6 in the 1/8th my best is 8.71 in the 1/8th @82 or 83.
I don't understand what you mean by floaty can you elaborate?
The clutch is heavy due to lack of a hydraulic clutch is a man clutch :P
the shifter is notchy b/c it is ****, so MGW or PRO 5.0 my personal preferences) will fix this.

ever have issues PM me or post up So much knowledge in this section and not enough time to indulge in it.

If 1st gear feels weak have 4.10's installed. I have the stock good year eagles and have traction issues in 1st, 2nd, and going into 3rd. I have to agree with Rebel about ditching the stock shifter. I have the MGW and its pretty notchy at first, but gets much better once you put some miles on it, plus its very tough to miss 3rd gear unless your a complete noob. Congrats on the purchase! I purchased my 04 Mach about 2 months ago and love it (after having to replace the clutch). The stock clutch feels pretty light to me coming from an 04 GT with a Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch, that thing was a bitch!

the Fbodyu is used b/c there are tons of fanbois on here...and typically used as an insult in the street and strip section.
