Default Crazy cai question

Ok I might get made fun of for this but I don't care lol. When I bought my mach it came with jlt performance cai (the one that sits in front of the wheel well). What I'm wondering is if anyone has ever done or heard of fabing up some king of piping off of the shaker hood to curve back and feed air into the piping of that intake. Would this make it any more functional/more gains or just be something retarded? Or would it be better to just say screw it and leave the piping off or perhaps pull that cai out and put in a k&n or something along those lines. I'd rather not spend another 200 something dollars for a brand new cai if it's not going to be a substantial change in hp gains. Just bored at work and wondering is all. thanks in advance

I wouldn't try to fab any pipe in between the shaker scoop and cai, only because it will then be drawing in unfiltered air. Even stock, although it's a functional scoop, in and of itself it doesn't give any hp gains. Probably the best way to make it functional again would be to find an OEM airbox and intake assembly.

i have a gt with a cdc shaker installed maybe try the cdc shaker supercharge adapter that seals the shaker box and puts a filter in it. and try fabbing a hose to the throttle body from there

I don't know how you would do it without it looking like a hack job. I'm **** about stuff working and would lover to have your setup with a functional hood scoop(my 04 gt has dem fake one lol) To be honest you prob gained nothing from that JLT and if you wanted functionality from the scoop, just go back to a stock setup.

It would be cool to make something work, but you would have to pipe the air to/around the filter from the scoop. Mind taking a pic from the driver side headlight showing the scoop and JLT in one pic to see what kind of room we are talking?

I didn't actaully buy the jlt the car came with it. Still debating on a k&n instead which would solve everything. I'll get some pics up soon

Yeah without a ton of mods and a tune you gained nothing, I have some exhaust work and a JLT fender mount and gained absolutely nothing! Lol, I didnt buy it for the gains though...

It's a good question. More air is a great thing. A little leaner is better. Seems people don't think intakes make a difference but I beg to...differ. The forementioned points about it looking like a hack job and the additional air being unfiltered are definitly valid. But it's also very important that any additional air be fed in well before the mass air sensor so the car will feed more fuel. I have the JLT ram-air. Using a fake-me-out headlight with the back carved out for very little air turbulence. Sounds like a freaking blower all the way down. Keep fiddling around, you'll think of something.
