Default Comp Cams

Thinkin about gettin some comp cams here pretty soon. Before I buy some though, Im just wondering what some of you guys think. What are the disadvantages compared to the advantages of getting cams for the mach 1. Hit me up and let me know some of your thoughts.

Advantage-more power. Disadvantage-a not-to-good total cost/gain ratio. Whether or not you need the additional valvetrain hardware depends upon the increase in lift and is clearly listed by each cam manufacturer. Be sure to note each cam's power range so that you're getting the power gain in the rpm range you're looking for. Also, consider 96-98 cobra intake cams as they give as much gain as a mild aftermarket cam at a fraction of the price ($150-$175), though they need about 6 degrees advance for no torque loss. Their is massive info. on these, and other cams over on M1R. One thread has a great comparison between the forementioned cams and the other ones available.

Actually consider the 96-98 cobra intake cams... they are more aggressive

thx for the correction. I owned a set of the 96-98 cams for that very reason so one could say I had a massive brainfart, lol.

well where would you go to buy cams out of a 96-98 cobra? I already checked ebay and didnt see any. Also, wut kind of gains would you get from those cams over the stock mach 1 cams?

go on svtp and look up a guy called NA SVT he's smart and will spec you a set of cams that wont require springs and give you more power than the comps. also get a Ported short runner intake and Longtubes to get full use of the cams. you should see 360-38-rwhp depending on the combo
