Default Need Opinions!

Hey all, I have a quick question for anyone that has a second or two to answer a question. I posted this in General Tech and didn't get a response.

I've had my 96 GT for a little while now and I've decided to start upgrading. With the holidays around the corner as well as me selling my 97 coupe, I'll have right around $1300 to play with for the car.

My question to you all is this; given the amount of cash I'll have, would you do internal or external mods? The car does need a new paintjob (which will run $1000 at the lowest, $3000 at the highest) but it's sound mechanically.

I didn't really have a list for internal mods besides new pipes as well as a super charger (preferably Kenne Belle but it's slightly out of budget).

Externally I had planned on a new rear bumper, hood as well as a new set of rims (looking at 95 Cobra Rs).

What would you pick, and why? Thanks!

POWER

Seriously, get some power mods. I am of a mindset that I prefer go before show.

Example:
I'm at a light with my sweet rims/new body panels/hood/scoops/etc. Guy pulls up next to me with the same car with just an intake/exhaust/tune. I'm gonna look like a bozo when he smokes me.

I also imagine that your $1300 will go a lot further then my $1300 would for my car. So start pricing out some options for you to get for your GT.

agreed, you can def do alot better with your money for performance mods than we can...i've got my sequentials, and i'll prob add my rear & side window louvers soon, but i want it to be a sleeper so i can make the bozo with his new body kit look stupid when i speed off, like S197 said...GO FOR POWER!!!!! UNLEASH YOUR HORSES!!!!

I have a younger friend who with just bolt-ons got his N/A stock '96 to run 13.20s. Let me call him and ask him to rank which ones he would recommend first. This was back when "fast" stock heads/cam 5.0s were running mid-low 13s.

If you can stomach an off-road pipe part of the year. I bet that would top the "returns for your $$$" list. A man could put it on right after a new inspection. Just speculating, of course....

Gears, of course, increase the fun factor from the driver's seat more than anything. But few can do them at home. Need access to hydraulic presses and and dial indicator.
