well, i'm definitely not an expert at this kind of stuff, but the fact that they were messing with stuff that has to do with the camshaft as well as the computer, they could have reset something, or could have not programmed something correctly. just a guess

Im such a noob with all these car terms, though I am really planning on changing that. But what exactly is the camshaft?

Seems awfully suspicious to me... You bring it in with certain problems and they fix them for a hefty amount. You get the car home and almost immediately, another unrelated problem you've never had before develops?

Never mind I looked it up, from what I read this might have done something to the transmission problems that I seem to be having.

possibly, i suppose. since the camshaft pretty much regulates your engine's timing, if they screwed it up, it can cause lag, hesitation, and i suppose even transmission shift problems (since it is based on engine timing/rpm as well). if the timing is off, it could result in a whole mess of problems

Taurus's are notorius for having transmission problems. That's why most people get rid of them. Sounds like something with the engine that they caused while working on it from your post. I'd definately be taking it back to them.

Take it back ASAP

tell them and any trusting shop will look at it for free

our shop always does that, if a car comes back a week later with a light on we scan it for free or diagnose it

like Xeno said, sounds like a timing issue
