Default Wal-Mart Budget Mods

I have a 2002 V6 Vert Mustang. I thought I would share some of the “Wal-Mart Budget” mods I have made. With the rising gas prices and family, I have limited funds to invest in my car, so most of my mods come from ideas on this and other web sites.

Simple three brake light mod complete. Just visit the local auto parts store and replace the single filament socket and bulb with a standard two filament socket and bulb. Splice into the existing wiring and you have all three lights working the same:

Before (with brakes applied)

After (with brakes applied)

A few more on a budget. I shortened the antenna. A pair of pliers to remove the ball at the tip. Hack saw to the right length epoxy the ball back and touch up the paint. Simple.

do you listen to the radio? a lot of radio stations may not come in (as) clear for you after hacking your antenna. the antennas arent that tall to be obnixous and ugly, theyre made that size for a purpose (same reason as why CB antennas are all the size they are)... but i do agree, it looks nicer when its shorter. its all a matter of if you mind sacrificing your radio signal.

No noticable problems on the radio. But I am not sure I loss any range. Good point.

I have not noticed the lights being dimmer. The photo was from a poor angle. I make the splice in parallel, not series, thus therewas not a loss in voltage

Thanks,

This depends on your overall location. I cut my antenna down from stock to about 14" or so, and the reception actually got BETTER! I lost the ball tho, so as the replacement, I just lathered the epoxy into a ball at the top.

that is strangely odd, or just extremely coincidential. its not because of location, but because of mathematics in relation to the frequency.
