to answer the question of g vs stang:
my choice shows my answer... only reason to get the g over the stang is 4 doors and better gas mileage imo.
I have a 6 yr old and was worried about the smaller stang... but so far it hasn't been a problem.. in fact, he loves it lol.

How would you compare the roll on power between the two?

to compare the 2:
both I believe will be close in the 1/4 mile time however my guess is that the mustang will be at a higher trap speed as the larger displacement will eventually take over.
both are fast and great cars but I think they are so different that a decision between the 2 should really be based on other items, not power/speed.
my g35 and the g37 I tested last week, both fly... good low end power but I don't think they compare to the low end grunt of the stang's 4.6... and certainly if the 5.0 is in the discussion, it is over.
also, I would probably factor in maintenace, repairs, & mods: all are going to be cheaper in the Ford vs. the Infiiniti. If it is a fancy, higer tech, more comfortable in the back seat car that you want then go with the g35.
that being said, I am very impressed with the mustang's interior, sync, and overall quality so far.
the sync is the best bluetooth I have had yet, spanks the bmw & infiniti's by far. When I ask to call someone, it has not missed a name yet, right on point and sound quality is crystal clear on both ends. that feature is very important to me.
besides... how cool is it to be able to change the interiors colors with the touch of a button! right now I'm on ice blue throughout lol..... I find myself changing all the time just becuase I can and its fun changing the combinations all the time...
sorry to get off track of your question:
without knowing what you need or prefer, if I have to chose between the 2 I take the stang every time.
but then again, I am now a biased mustang owner!!

First time poster here, I have been lurking around the forums for a while and reading up on the 2010 Mustang.
I actually just ran an M3 sedan this afternoon from a stop to about 75mph. It was a dead even race, pretty sure he was on it hard because he barked the tires going into second gear. Not bad for a car that's 30K cheaper, though I'm sure if we were up in the hill he'd have eaten me for lunch.
