Default my fox convertible money pit

i picked up my 1990 LX convertible back in '08 after being mustangless for about 4yrs. it was tough finding a convertible that was in decent shape and not beaten to death. after about 3-4months of searching, i finally found this 2-owner triple black LX with 82k on the clock. it was basically all stock besides the little novi 1000 blower. so for the last 2yrs, this money pit is coming along pretty nicely.

here's how it looked like when i first bought it. it belonged to a member on this site once out here in CA:

i hated those black cobra r wheels so on went the stock silver ponies:

current setup before paint and body work:

phase 1

back in august, i had a local shop pull the engine, weld in some smooth engine bay panels, and repaint the engine bay in factory black.

before the work:

engine pulled and the shop did their magic:

engine reinstalled, more work will be done to clean up the engine look:

phase 2

once the engine bay work was all done, it was off to the body shop for paint. i dropped off the car at the body shop, 10-15-10, to get the whole exterior repainted Ford black. all the moldings got refinished as well .

my smooth trunk and cowl hood

brand new bumper(ford tooling) fits great

trunk jam

door jams - center is taped off b/c of my sound deadening material

cowl vent refinished

misc. pieces

The night before I was suppose to go pick the car up, I could not sleep at all. The anticipation of finally getting my car back with fresh paint was nuts.

This whole year the car has only been on the road less than 2 months. Overall, the paint job came out excellent. Marcos Autobody up in Sac, CA is the man. If you're willing to spend a few bucks, he will give you top notch work. Great and easy guy to deal with.

There's still a few things I need to get done, but here are some pics of the car. The engine needs a good detail so that will come later.

Me, happier than a little kid in a candy store!!!
