85* Stang Engine Question
I have a stock 302 5.0. Would it be better to modify it for more horsepower or replace the engine entirely with something more powerful such as a 351w. I would like to stick with a carbureted engine. If modifying it is a good idea what modifications would you do? Replace cam? Have the engine block machined and bored?
Thanks is advance.

What is the condition of the engine? Miles? Still running? Burning oil, leaking anything , etc?
How much power are you wanting to get? Emissions requirements?
If the block is in good condition you can swap out the top end and cam to get some decent power gains. There are complete kits, throw in a carburetor and any new hardware you'll need and you're good to go. There are better components out there but this takes a lot of guess work out of it.

57K miles on the engine. It runs great, just a little trouble on the start up. Aside from needing new valve gaskets no leaking oil. I have no emission requirements so straight pipes all the way. Thanks for the link I believe that will get me were I want to get.
