I have a 64 Comet convertible with 260 engine. I want to put more powerful fuel injection engine in it. The comet forums say a new mustang engine will bolt right up. Is this true and if so which engine would that be I will have to find the right donor car. I would also like to change trans to automatic with console and floor shift. Is there a mustang that I could get it all off of fairly easy. Thanks for any help with this I am a novice.

 

Any 302 sbf, pick your flavor, carbureted would be easiest for your swap with a c-4 or aod trans and you're in there like swim wear.

No swap is an absolute slam dunk, they all take some doing but pretty much any small block Ford /trans combo will fill the bill.

I'd stick with a carb on this. Easy peasy swap otherwise.

What are your intentions with this car? Just a daily driver/show car or dragstrip/track car?
