Will someone point a newbie in the right direction?
Would anyone be willing to help me find an old thread about doing the foxbody 5.0 into a classic Mustang?
I am certain this topic has been covered to death but as I said, I am a newbie and am not well versed how this forum works. TBH, I have never done one before. What I am looking for specifically is:
What engine is best to use?
What other components will I need from the donor car?
What unique issues are related to this modification? If so, how was it solved?
Is it worth the trouble to perform the modification?
What modifications should be done to the engine before installation into the classic Stang?
Oh, here is the background on my project for academic purposes.
1967 Mustang Fastback
Highly optioned car with integrated a/c
Deluxe interior
289 2bbl with c4.
I have the original engine. It is built and ready to go back from which it came. It was strong before the rebuild but it had setup too long for my taste so I redid it again.
Current modifications in progress:
8.8 rear end .373 gears w/ rear discs
T5 from 93 cobra with bellhousing and all necessary installation hardware.
Front discs (got stupid lucky and found a legit set of 67 disc brake spindles)
I intend to drive and abuse the hell out of this car when completed. Hence the reason I am contemplating the 5.0 FI swap. I welcome any suggestions to help me make an informed decision.
Thanks in advance

This guys webpage (it's old) has quite a bit of info

As far as engines, most of the 302 windsors are more or less the same as far as the block goes, the heads and intake will vary between different models as will the computers. Probably the easiest for you would be to find one from a foxbody with mass air (88/89-93). The 94/95's are pretty close but the computer can be a bit more finicky (trust me I own one) and the accessories are different than the foxes. If you get a later model one out of an explorer or moutanier you may be able to get one with gt40 heads, which gives you a bit more power but you have to be careful if you get one with the gt40p heads as they require different headers.
If you go into the classics section and use the "search this forum" function on the top right of your screen you'll probably be able to get most of your questions answered. Good luck.
