Question for all on engine swaps 2001 V6
Question for all on engine swaps
I know what you are all going to say, save my money and buy a GT, but this is a project where I will be upgrading my wifes car along with teaching my 17 year old some skills other than something on the IPhone.
My wife has a 2001 v6 convertible with 257k miles and it is time for a new motor and I need a project to do. (Yes 257K original miles). I am looking at three options. swap out for 4.6L, 5.0L or LS Swap. I know about the LS engines, but i dont know much about 4.6 or the 5.0.
This is a project I am expecting to take a year or two and I want to do it right. I am getting a used engine and will tear it down and do a total rebuild on it.
What are the major differences between the 4.6 and the 5.0 as far as durability and how far can i push the horsepower in either. I am looking to get mid 400 hp out of my build.
The v6 is still running pretty good, it has issues at times and i fix them.
Thanks in advance
