Does anybody use the parking brake?

It creates less strain on the engine by placing the trans in neutral, but you run the risk of something happening if the E-brake happens to well, break. Happened to my dad's chevelle years back. And yes, it went flying down a hill. I always place the car back in gear after I turn the car off just in case.

Well let's see, autos have a parking sprag, and manuals don't. I drive a stick so I use my parking brake. So yes I do use it, not all the time like some people, I find if you use ALL the time that you have to explain that funny smell to everybody and your 1/4 mile times get really really bad.

Everytime I park ANY of my cars, I use the parking brake. I live in the salt belt, if you dont use it, itll corrode up and wont release if it ever accidentally does get used. Seen it tons of times around here. Not to mention, on a lot of vehicles the parking brake is what keeps you rear brakes adjusted up properly.

I will like to add on when NOT to use it.
If you stop your car after heavy braking (like after a huge downhill or some laps at the track) DONT USE IT. A very hot disc can get bent under e-brake pressure.
