Default Price of Shelby GT???

The other night I stopped by the dealership close to my home; theyhave a Shelby GT (black...ummm!) in front of the showroom. Since they were closed I couldn't ask any questions, but I looked at the sticker, which was $32, 035. I saw the Shelby sticker with the upgrades it adds, but no additions to the $32,035.

"Car & Driver" and "Road & Track" show the Shelby GT as going for around $36,000, so I emailed the question of price to the dealer. He comes back with the price as $50,000, which I questioned but haven't received a response to yet.

Dealer mark-up? Quite a profit...

yes, they mark-up all the prices on the shelby's.. they aren't too common.

EDIT: I even saw some being sold as high as 60,000$ a couple of months ago.

Yes, unfortunately, the new Shelby GT's will not escape the huge dealer markups that currently plague the GT500's. In fact, you can almost expect to pay as much for the bolt-on Shelby-fied GT as you would the 500hp GT500.
Seems like the only way to get these cars for anything resembling a decent price is to be in bed with someone who has alot of swing at the dealership.[]
Let's hope that with the arrival of the GT500KR this year that the collector nuts will keep their grubby hands off of the proposed 08 Bullitt so that us average folk can finally afford an SE mustang.

I have seen several with 10 - 15K of dealer markup, clearly not worth that. Ford isn't producing enough of the special editions to meet demand, very disappointing.

MSRP on the Shelby GT's is supposed to be 36K. So provided you could find a dealer willing to sell you one without a markup, that's what you'd pay. And really, for what u get, plus it being a genuine Shelby altered car (like the original 65s, 66s,and 67's)......it'd be a great buy for that price. IF you could get one for that price, that is.

Yea this paticular dealer (person ford in la verne, CA) has two of the black/w silver stripes, one manual and one is auto, the auto was about 52k, and the manual right at 50,071, they are awesome cars, spoilerless look on the si197 is unbeatable to me, i should have asked to test drive the manual outside, just the interior quality struck me, seems like the leather used is higher quality, like the ind used in the king ranch f-150.
