RE: snagged this on the 2007 cobra off a local site
Sorry to pull out old threads but what the hell ehh.
Bossman... Your logic is simply money driven right? Bang for the buck?
I always hated that argument because it only makes sense to people looking for a "bargin".
Reasons people are going to buy this new cobra up like candy:
1. Exterior STYLING!
2. Interior STYLING! ( Never before has Ford offered so many interior options!)
3. Did I mention exterior Styling?
4. Someone that can comfortably spend 45k on a weekend car doesn't care about bang for the buck
5. Keep in mind that we as enthusiasts are a Small percentage of the market and that most of these cars will be lucky to get a CAI and Catback.
Reasons why I will buy one as soon as they are out:
1. reasons 1-4 from my first list
2. LIVE AXLE!!! I hate my ISRS on my 03! I'm so pleased that ford listened to all the complaints!
3. My 03 handles like a dump truck and is not anywhere near 1G on the skidpad
4. 5.4 ltrs and a Blower
5. And Im sure someone will make a pulley for it
6. my 03 is a heavy tank of a car and the brakes are substandard. The 03-4 should have gotten 4pistons at a minimum in the front!
7. low 12's @ 118-119 from the factory! There are pullied 03-04's that have a hard time getting those numbers!
8. If it brakes down, it goes to the dealership!
9. No matter what you do to the pre-05's, they are still the "old" body style

Yeap. I wish I could find the article I read but SVT is offically dumped and Carrol Shelby is now the producer of Fords Cobra. SC 5.4L, Live axle and 550 hp to the ground and the car is suppose to break into the 11's with a 0-60mph time under 4 seconds. Thats what their hoping for atleast.

a car that pulls over 1 G in handling and can run close to or in the high 11's stock for $45k-ish is a bad deal? Sure if all you want is straight line performance. For real-world driving and track fun I'd take the cobra over a drag prepped 00-04 anyday

To each his own, still like to watch others drag, but for now, I'm running in circles.
