I have faith that the new 2010 Stang will be fine competing with the new Camaro. to be honest, if this Camaro is supossed to have 400 hp etc. I wondering what its price point will be, if its in the low 40's, i think even the stang now will outsell it byquite a bit.

The stang does not have to be faster than the camaro stock to outsell. thats been proven many times over. Thats not to say at least 350 hp out of the 2010 stang to be in the same ballpark wouldnt be prudent. I'm sure Ford will figure it out. They've had too much success and good press with the current stang to **** it all away at this point.

hope I'm not wrong
I think they'll easily meet the price point on the Camaro even with 400 hp. Look at the Pontiac G8 coming up in January. That has 361 hp and it costs about $29k, I think. GM should be able to squeeze 39 hp from somewhere...

Ford is going to need a fresh design on the outside and more power to compete with the Camaro. Personally, I think the Italian design that was in all the magazines not to long ago would work with some changes.

I was riding with my brother yesterday to grandma's house and I was surprised how common the Mustang is on the road nowadays. I'm getting a new hood in a couple of months just to set myself apart from the herd of Mustangs around here.

As nice as I think the S197 looks, I'll be first to acknowledge that a performance car can't get stale and still compete. You can let styling go a little longer in a car that only sells 40k units a year like a Corvette, but when you're selling a 160k vehicles a year then the shelf life is much shorter. If the 2010 refresh is as minor (new bumpers and hood) as the photo posted in this link, then I'll be pretty disappointed.

bascho, your a better man than me....I wouldnt be able to keep it to myself.

Guys stop asking questions, would you really want to get a guy fired for telling you what a car is going to look like 3 years from now?

Somehow I don't see people liking a new Mustang design as much as they liked the S197. It has too much old school charm.

That's a photoshop job guys.....not the 2010. I've seen the 2010 and believe me, everyone will like the changes.
So without revealing anything "secret," can you give us a subjective opinion? Will it blow us away, or just be a mid redesign? Are you confident it will meet and/or surpass people's expectations, namely the hard-core crowd? Will it be "worth the wait?"

I agree to an extent, its a combination of things for me.

I was thinkin when they first came out with the new modles, Why not just make a limited number of classic clones from the 60's(withsome cammer blocks [8D])instead of look-likes. You know they have time to engineer it.
