Default GM down the tube

GM is rumored to of lost around 2 billion last quarter and has now canceled the return of the camaro is 2007, along with numerous other projects and concepts they were working on. They seem to be ripe for the picking and i would not be suprised to see toyota or nissan take them over.

I pretty much figured the maro wasn't coming back, that's been rumored for a while though.

I wonder what's gonna happen with them, probably will be bought out.

There's also been talk of cutting Pontiac AND Buick in the next year or two. The G6 (also read as 'More Grand-prix/am spin offs) isn't selling so well. Gee, I predicted this would be happening in the near future... I give it until end of '06 before GM announces it's plans to either sell off or close down Pontiac and Buick divisions.

Edit: I don't think GM will sell everything, just the divisions that lack any real strategic value in a given market.

The argument with Pontiac is that it's a Performance oriented division yet even the GTO isn't selling and the G6 using FWD to compete with imports is not selling either. I didn't know they were still making Bonnevilles and Sunfires. Just found out while looking at KBB.com. Their idea of putting (GM) on everything they own, is going to tank them in Europe.

Buick, is going the way of oldsmobile...cars that don't really define any Niche market or target an audience.

Any bets on when GM will make the announcement on those division a reality? I say 4th Qtr of 2006.

I agree 100% with derf00. I was reading in Hot rod magazine (Ithink it was the one) That by the end of the year they'll probably have to close down one of their branches. I'd say some time next year we'll hear the anouncement.

It's sad that imports had a lot to do with this. Although they also messed up a bit. I don't really think they have done enough with their new vehicles @ all. Other than the new vette I don't like anyother. What you guys think?

Yea pontiac has all front wheel drive cars with the exception of the GTO. They have a new Grand Prix GXP with 320 HP and the 5.3 V-8. Its still front wheel drive only. If they were smart they would have put it on the GTO platform. But the GTO isnt even a Pontiac, Its a Holden out of Austraila with a LS2 in it. I say that by 2010 Buick, Pontiac and Saturn are gone.

I hope GM does die out myself, but you have to admit that these concept drawings I found of the potential 2007 Camaro are pretty sweet. If it does go through, there is a potential for pumping some life back into a dieing horse.

YEs that is why i'm currently laid off, i make SUV frames for GM big gas guzzling SUV vehicles talk about making the wrong thing at the wrong time. GM is hurting. I hate to say it but mabye they need to bring the camaro out of hibranation to save them as the mustang did for ford so many times. I know it's still gonna suck the gas but desperate times call for......well you know the rest.
