Camaro Z-28 dead?
From Autoblog:
"On the bad news side, in a separate blog post, Automobile reports that Lutz kind of throws dirt on the idea of an LSA-powered Camaro Z28 (though he doesn't specifically state that the program's toast). He says that for "mainstream" sports models like the Camaro, powerful sixes (like the one in the Camaro LS and LT) and turbo fours (like the one used in the now-dead Cobalt SS, HHR SS and Solstice GXP) are more indicitive of the automaker's future direction in that regard. Hmmm. Well then, how about bolting a blower to the direct-injected V6?"
WTF??? I guess it wouldn't be PC for "Government Motors" to build a gas guzzling 550 horsepower Z-28. I hope they build it anyway.
Screw the Greenies!

Noone can afford something like that right now. I see why they want to forcus on 4. and 6's. I dont like the idea of another legand in the car world like the Z-28 bite the dust but until American car companys can stand on their own (Ford included in that) I just dont see the justification of a car like that right now.

My thought is the Z28 will never go production. History is repeating itself. We're coming to the end of an era just like the early 70s when pollution laws and the oil crisis killed the big CID engines and horsepower. The government is talking more stringent emission laws and gas was $4.50/gallon a year ago. Those 4 and 6 bangers will probably replace Chevrolet's 6.2L ,and we all know what Fiat is going to do to the Challenger.
Too bad for GM and Chrysler....they missed the modern day pony car war of the 2000s. I think it's only a matter of time before 400 hp will be a thing of the past!

And it will continue to hard for them to find resources to build it. They burned most of their suppliers in the first couple of rounds. Noone wants a piece in round 3. It used to be profitiable to be selected by the #1 sometimes #2 automaker in the world, now it's a loosing crap shoot. Want to be profitable? Stay away from GM.
