New Engine in GT500
I posted this already and it disappeared. Forgive me if it reappears.
What do you belieive the new engine for the GT500 will be?
1. I believe the days of the 5.4L Engine are limited since its currently only being produced on the Niche Line.
2. Ford is all about maintaining profit now. I dont see them manufacturing a new engine (rumored turbo 5.0) when they have a currently produced engine in another model that will do.
3. Weight loss on the GT500 is a primary goal.
4. Better MPG wouldnt hurt Ford's Plans.
My canidate? The engine from the Aussie Falcon GTHO. Due in 2011 with a 5.0 Supercharged "Coyote" of 536/479. While I dont look for Ford to reduce power in the GT500 I believe they can find at least 14 bhp to keep that from happening. It doesnt hurt that the engine will be built in the USA.
Thoughts?

Prob something along the lines i'd guess with a twin-turbocharged engine housed on a aluminum-block. Heck through on some BOSS emblems as well and 600 horsepower lol.
But yea, adding on... make it direct injection and just maybe it could put on the performance of a V10 Dodge Viper.

My bet is still on a supercharged 5.0. It just makes the most sense. From what I understand the Coyote is already making upwards of 530 hp on just 6-8 lbs of boost......that's just a tick away from what the current 5.4 is putting out. Plus the Coyote is actually lighter than the current 5.4. A forged lower CR 5.0 with a good blower stacked on top would be perfect for the Terminator 2.

it probably would have but ford already announced that they will be discontinueing the 4.6L and 5.4L motors in favor of the 5.0l and 6.2l

i would say the 6.2 will find its way into the gt500 or cobra or what the top mustang will be. its really simple ford has never let aftermarket tuners work with their bread and butter motor.think about. roush, saleen, steeda and the others close to ford always built there cars off the 2v and 3v platforms. the best motor of those times where the 4v 4.6 and the 4v 5.4 you have never seen a tuner get a 4v motor the same as fords top dog for a tuner car. if the 5.0 ends up in the gt500 then every single v8 mustang will be the same. its not gonna be a bonus to by a gt500 over a stage 3 roush because they both will be on f/i and making the same hp. but the roush will be able the stop and turn way better. that means ford is losing money.

well actually roush has gotten ahold of a few of the top dogs over the years. roush got ahold of a dozen or so 03-04 cobras and modified them with their body kit(minus the front bumper i believe) and a CAI and a few other little things here and there. roush also modified some ford GT's that only got sold in Europe
also you should know Roush has only touched the internals of a mustang in one model the P51 roush. so if ford does put a 5.0 in the gt500/cobra it will have lower compression all forged internals which will allow it to be boosted more than the GT motors. Roush will just plop their Roushcharger ontop of the factory GT motor at like 5lbs of boost because that will be close to the only safe amount for a warrantied GT which wont put it near the power that the gt500/cobra will be able to achieve with lower compression internals and all forged internals

And furthermore, tuners like Roush and Saleen have always gravitated to the base V8 models because they were cheaper and often easier to build up to each company's higher performance standards. The top dog models from Ford were always vastly more expensive, and were therefore not conducive to nearly 20K worth of parts and exclusivity price hikes that the tuner models often received.
