Weight

Weight

Weight

The new Cobra puts around 40ish more hp out than the ZO6, yet the ZO6 is still quite faster and weighs a couple hundred pounds less. So no, 40hp is not enough to overcome it. It's going to be just about as fast the present GT's.

You're misinformed. '99-'04 GT's weigh in around 3,240lbs, the '05 is going to be damn near 3,500lbs.
"The V-8’s deep-skirt, lightweight aluminum engine block provides optimum stiffness and strength, saving 75 pounds compared with a cast-iron design. Computer-aided engineering was used to reinforce key areas of the block, adding rigidity without weight." AFM News

"its said weight will be within 100 pounds of the '04 Mustang--no lightweight itself. Aluminum is used throughout, including the front and rear control arms, the hood, the engine block and heads." MuscleMustangs

Alright, we were both wrong...100 pounds heavier roughly...

The front is ugly. It sounds really good for factory though. It should be a good bit quicker than the 99-04. I heard that 0-60 is in 5.1 and the quarter in 13.6.

I'm definately interested in one of those. The exterior is nice except for the color and the rims which you can change for your tastes. The interior is nice as **** with the gauges that change colors and the classic looking flat dash. Not to mention there will be no change in pricing compared to the 04 Mustangs. The GTO is a nice car but they should have saw what Ford did and make a classic looking GTO. If I can afford another Stang in a couple years I will be getting one of those.

Im from the old school I like the way ford revamped the stangs to look like the stangs of the 60s. I do think the rims need to be replaced though. If you think about it who cares if its heavier it will take a few months and there will be so many mods for that car the weight wont matter, besides it feels good to ride in a nice solid muscle car.

right..."horsepower sells cars, torque wins races" I'm not sure what the figures are but what does the 05 make on stock torque ratings. IMO I like the new design change, as I like the older styles as well. My father and I also have a 1969, and I feel they did a good job blending its attributes in with modern day apperance standards, but to each their own.
