when you dyno tune alot of times there is one guy listening closely for minor detonation within the engine( at least i think thats what they listen for) they did the same thing on each pull as they added timing to my cobra while they were tuning.

looked like he had a stethascope or something he touched to the engine block to listen for detonation/pinging/knocking etc
