That was my first ship the JPJ. I remember some the older guys talking about that and I saw the video along time ago. The whole video shows the rescue of the pilots they were ok.

Notice how you see the explosion and you still hear the jet flyby for several seconds. He blew up after crossing the sound barrier. The light of the explosion traveled faster than the sound did. Amazing. And for those unlucky ones that have never seen a jet break Mach 1 in person, it's truly spectacular--video doesn't do it justice.
