Default Newb

Hi all....New to the forums so i thought i should be nice and say my hellos.
My current ride consists of an 86 4 cyl coupe that is incomplete due to me currently being in the middle of a move.
My friend was kind enough to store it in his garage until i get situated.
The rundown:
70 302 .30 over
Eagle 289 rods with small chevy slugs
comp cams - XE268
GT-40 heads
performer rpm intake
830 holley
C4 trans - no converter
4cyl rear end
neglected paint
so forth and so on.....
Keep in mind the poor thing is still under construction......just on hold until i get settled. [:'(]

I'm envious. Your car sounds like the project I would like to be working on. Did you do the swap?

I'll post some before and during pics......that's as far as I've been so far. [>:]
I'll be sure to put those on when i get home from work....as far as the swap goes. Yup, all me.....I'm a "hands-on" type...so I bought the four banger that was all "banged" out and dove in.

Here is what I started with...this is $300 in all of it's glory!

I'll be going by this weekend and I'll try to get some "in process" photos.....I hate not having my car where I can just walk into the garage and turn a wrench. [:'(]

welcome to the bunch! looks like you've got a real project on your hands there. you might want to consider swapping out the 4 banger rear for an 8.8 from a later model as they're a lot stronger than the one you have now.

That's in the works......tossing around the idea of a 9 inch....but not sure if that would be overkill.......
I don't like to "under-do" anything.

if you want gears above 4.10's, you'll have to go to a 9" and then you can get just about any gear ratio you might need. Plus, since they're so popular, the parts are more readily available and less expensive.

I'll probably end up building a strong 8.8 for the time being and gathering everything I need for the 9" for the trips to Memphis and Commerce for the real poundings....I need to hurry up and get this thing finished.....it's killing me to know it's just sitting! [:@]
