New V6
Hi guys, My name is brian, I'm in the Army and I just recently bought a 2000 Mustang with a V6, this isn't my first stang...i had a 97 with a v6 as well......BUT I feel that this car has more power and handles alot better?? I do have a question as to what I can do for performance parts...like the whole deal i'ma have close to 5g's to put into the car here in a month or so when my bonus drops....I found a Vortech superchager for 2500 garunteed to boost atleast 120 more HP...I want to know if i should do this or go with naturally aspirated......and if so what pats and companies I hsould use??
Welcome to the forum, and thanks for your service.
As far as supercharging goes-- its definitely a fun addition to the car, but you definitely want to do your research before you jump into buying anything. On a large purchase like that I would definitely make sure you know what you are getting into. Not to mention you'll have some supporting mods that you will want to get to keep your engine running strong and utilize the power.
Come on over to the v6 section and read some of the topics... there's plenty of info to be had there. If you don't see the exact questions answered that you're looking for, ask away. The people on the boards are generally really helpful and know what they're talking about.

Not to sound like a naysayer, but wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a '99-'01 GT? Yes the supercharger would definitely make it nearly on par with a New Edge GT, similar HP depending on how much boost you run, more boost equals more maintenance and likelihood of a failure of some sort down the road. The V-6's have weaker trannies, no traction lok, and smaller diffs(7.5 vs 8.8), less than inspiring
suspension, and smaller tires/wheels. Then again, you're young and I'm sure insurance costs play into the decision making. If you dig the V-6, then follow that choice and have a unique, but overtaxed car. The money you'll save on a car the manufacturer already bestowed with performance gear will save for headaches in the future. Sorry if this sounds like a cap against 6 banger owners, it isn't, but Ford made the GT for some reason and that was for no frills performance. Good luck.
