Default 1970 vacuum hoses firewall

Hi All and greetings from Australia, in the engine bay of my 1970 fastback (boss clone) coming through the firewall on drivers side are 2 vacuum lines that have been cut level with rubber grommet, when i look under dash and trace these vascuum hoses they go to a blue box p/n DOAF-9E718 from this blue box are some wires that go to a sensor? on speedo cable and some other wires that go to god knows where.WHAT is the purpose of all this???
all wires and vacuum hoses are disconnected but i am interested to know what this setup did the day car rolled out of factory.
thanks for ALL replys.
