Default da new guy

Hi all . . .

Been an admirer of Mustangs since forever. Never owned one, but have fond memories of friend's cars, particularly an ultra-sweet '70 Boss 302 my best friend owned in 1977. Oh, and when I was 13 I lusted soooo bad for a 1973 yellow Mach 1 convertible.

Since then I've been through a lot of cars, but a Mustang was always in the back of my mind. I was most recently driving a 2002 BMW M Roadster but some idiot totaled it. The new Z4s are out of my reach and I hate what Chris Bangle has been doing to BMW anyway.

And I keep looking at that beautiful retro 'Stang every one goes by . . . I'm really starting to get serious about taking that insurance check and picking up a 2007 GT Convertible.

So - Can somebody clue me in on the first things a n00b should brush up on? Availability and pricing? Must have options and those to avoid? Good sites to bookmark? Any good FAQs? I'll be wanting to do at least a few cosmetic mods plus some performance upgrades - nothing wild, just good bang for the buck. How are the Tech forums here? Any good alternatives?

Thanks for listening!
