Dashboard squeaks and rattles in 2005 s197
Hello members,
I have owned my 2005 GT since new. At about 9000 klms the dash board started rubbing the a pillars and squeaking. At 10,000 klms a rattle in the center console someplace between the audio system and the air vents developed. My car has been to the dealership at 13,000 to have these issues addressed but with no success. Ford is apperantly aware of theA pillar problem because the dashboard in the 2006, and 2007 have much bigger gaps between them. I have searched for any published tech bullitens for a solution but with no success.
My question is, To 2005 GT and V6 owners, are you experiencing the same problems and if so, Does any members have a solution. Ray

Welcome to the forums. There is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that covers this problem. The TSB number is 06-4-1. I just sent you an email with some information.

I have some rattles and squeaks in my 05 as well, but they only surfaced during the winter time, and are more apparent in the morning when the car is still cold overall...it dissipates as the interior warms up.

My 2007 had rattles on the passenger side at the vent. My fix was to put some felt between the top of the dash and the A pillar cover. I also pulled up on the vent(fingers thru the vent ring, on door side) to be able to put felt between the vent surround and the dash panel.DONOT pull but1/4" out on the rightside, or you may break theplastic studson the left side of the panel. If you remove the 4 screws holding in the glove box and look up from the bottom of the dash you can see how the panel is fastened.
