Default Hi, one question.

Hey everybody,
My old man and I are planning on getting a Mustang this spring and aren't wealthy enough to buy a new one. The question that I have is what are the best year models to go with from 1995-2001. I know that from 95-98 they are pretty much the same except the 95 had the 302, and 99 and up had the PI 281. Other than the engine and body differences were there other things to look for when we try to figure out what we want. Obviously we want a GT with a standard transmission. Thanks for all the help. I guess I'll start having to browse here heavily, looks like lots of good information.

Matt

I agree. Stay away from the 95-98 for sure. 95 had an untrainable computer, and the 96-98 had crappy heads.

Oh i forgot. Get a fox body 5.0. They are cheap and they are really easy to mod. I was gonna buy a 350hp one for $7000. It was a nice car too. Just like the new body style better.

I'd say 99-01 mainly because of the body and heads. They also put the 6 disc in-dash Mach 460 in (I think 02, some plz confirm this?). So is sound is something your looking for you might want to check into that. Also in 01 or 02 (again not sure, someone please confirm) but I think they put in a different tranny to accomodate the higher HP.

BTW Welcome to the forums.

actually i like the 94 - 98 more but it sounds like your finances are like mine so go with the 99-01 it has higher hp and you can use money for mods instead of repairs on an older car
