Default 66 289 overheating problems

i've run into a problem.. i have a 1966 coupe 289 v8 4bbl carb. well for things is it's an old engine that been sitting in a field since the 80's, i've just recently got in road ready. i've redone the carb. new exhaust. new radiator 3 rod.. new termostat, the works with my military budget.. one problem at a time. i'veflushed the cooling system many time's.. i'm getting blasted by this problem. i've talked to a few tech's and they tell me one said i need to pull the freeze plugs and flush out the block.. and another said that since it's been sitting out in the field the gaskets could have possibily went out. which is what i'm thinking.. i was told that i could get a chemical from kragen or autozone, that i could put in the cooling system and it would fix the problem.. a gasket sealent.. any idea's would help.. thank you..

Welcome to the forums, if had been sitting for that long, I'd say you would be better off replacing all the gaskets and seals, but thats me. If you haven't already you should talk to the guys in the Classic section, they should be able to sort this out for you.
