Hello all,
I joined a few months ago after I purchased a 1998 Cobra. I have been in the Mustang family off and on since high school and my love for the car dates back even further. My grandmother owned a 68 coupe, which I learned to drive on in her driveway when I was 14. Unfortunately, my parents were against the idea of her giving me the car since they felt it was too old and unsafe for a new driver such as myself when I turned 17 (she ended up selling it to her neighbor for $400 arrrgh!).
Ironically, when I was 18 I did get my first Mustang - a black 1985 GT, by begging my parents. Shortly thereafter, I fell in love with the SVO and promptly traded that in on a canyon red 1986 SVO. After highschool I went to college and left the car at home - which my parents sold
.
Fast forward 20 years and the lease on our Jetta GLX was up so I purchased a 2004 Competition Orange Mach 1. However, my happiness was short lived in that with a small child and a 60 mile a day round trip to work I needed something a little more practical so I ended up trading it in on an 04 Audi A4 (which I still have and although it is an entirely different car, it is a lot of fun).
I finally found an opportunity to get back into a V8 Mustang when my inlaws gave my wife an 03 Mustang V6. Now, having nothing but performance Mustangs in the past I had to figure out a way to get into something a little sportier (nothing against the V6's though). So, one afternoon I went down to a car lot and traded it in for a 98 Cobra - even swap.
It may seem a little nuts to trade in a 2003 for a 1998, but I wanted to some fun and I knew I would have to invest a little money into the Cobra. So now I have this car, which I look forward to drive every day and have invested some money in to replace old parts or upgrade a few where I can.
