Default Identifying Cobra vs. GT

Hey guys, looking to sell my import to get into a GT or cobra, 99-04 generation. im looking at a 2000 at the moment, and it is a cobra. i just want to know how to identify the cobra engine from the GT, since i know people will make cobra clones using front and back bumpers and try to sell them as cobras. is there a VIN code that specifies it as a cobra or can i tell by looking at the engine. is there an engine code printed on the block somewhere, and where is it?

Thanks guys!

check out how the manifolds and valve covers differ.. try googling them

2v=GT (smaller valve covers)
4v=Cobra, Mach etc. (larger valve covers, more cams)

Oh and unless you are looking at the extremly rare 2000 Cobra R (the only cobra produced in 00') then its not a cobra.

no cobras in 2000 or 2002, keep that in mind...unless if you got an Australian 2002 model, which you should avoid (likely a conversion or something).

99,(00),01,(02),03,04 had cobras produced
00 were only 300, the 00 cobra r which is like 50k or something
02 were only made in australia
99's had mustang rear bumper, 01-04 say cobra
mustangs have plastic intake manifolds while cobras don't and usually have a cobra logo on it,and an svt stamp on the valve covers

well the guy definitely didnt try to pull any covers over my eyes, i asked him about it and he said that it is a cobra clone, but that it DOES have the dual overhead cam v8. so if it is the DOHC v8, does this make it the cobra engine? he says that the person he bought it from told him it was a forged engine, which i guess would make it a cobra for sure, but can i tell these things by looking at it? i knowyou said more cams, but i dont know how to tell this, im coming from the world of lifted trucks, where engines arent so important as your lift and tires
thanks thus far for your help

EDIT: OH pretty important info, he says its not supercharged...

you can't tell if it's a forged engine just by looking at it, and the only cobra engines that have forged internals are from an 03-04 cobra, which come supercharged

this engine is from an 03-04 cobra

from an N/A cobra

thanks for all the helpful pics

ill try to make these my last two questions:
1) Did they make a 4v NON-cobra engine. so is it possible for this to be DOHC without being a cobra engine

2) if it is a DOHC , would this be a good buy even if it wasnt a cobra engine in it?
http://charlotte.craigslist.org/car/572666213.html7600, which is a pretty good price for a 2000 GT and if this has a better motor in it, i assume it would be.
