Default Engine for a ’79 cobra

Ok, so I have decided to go ahead and get a new engine for my 1979 cobra...any suggestions? The car is an automatic and not fuel injected, and I really don't want to change all that. What would be a decent engine to put in? And where can I find it for not too much $$?

Please help!

whatever you do, don't go with a 302 or 351. Those are so hard to find and not cheap at all.

Well, right now it has the original 302 V8 in it. I just want it to run and sound nice...I'm not into racing, but I'd like a little power It doesn't even have to be close to "original". I just want something that will be easy to fit in there and fun to drive.

You can get good power from a 302, a 351w swap would be super cheap and easy though

i must agree with MD 351 would be a sick motor to drop in. assembled you may have troublefinding however, finding the block and building your motorfrom scratch is fairly simple and inexpensive. later on if you do decide to race youll definitely have a contender.
