hello my name is kevin and im an alcoholic.... oops wrong forum for that. j/k. im new around here. no i dont have a mustang.. but ive got a thunderbird w/ a 5.0. it was my mothers and i wrecked it, i bought her a car and now the thunderbird is mine!!
i have some plans for it we have a 1/8 mile drag strip locally and i'd like to get the car into the low 7's, and since im not rich i plan on spending alot of time at the junkyard finding parts.
lets see... little bit about myself. uhh im 24 yrs old im an automotive mechanic for a local independant shop. ive always had a ford from an 85 escort to an 88 escort to an 87 merkur xr4ti then to a 2003 ranger, and now my new toy is an 86 thunderbird.
the car... its not a daily driver. it has sat for 4 yrs. it has 200K+ miles when it was last parked the engine ran like crap and the transmission puked a front seal, and it also slipped. it has a 5.0l speed density engine, AOD trans, and 3.73gears in an open diff
plans for the car. rebuild the trans with a stall and a good rebuild set. put a limited slip rear end in. and get the car into the low 7's
